
los angeles library summer reading programs
it’s summer reading time! california residents can sign up for most california library cards for free, and i have cards for los angeles public, los angeles county, burbank public, and glendale libraries. here’s some information about signing up for those four summer reading programs!

la public library
june 1 – august 1, all ages

- participate online via beanstack or pick up a game board at an lapl branch
- receive a sheet of stickers when you sign up
- log 1 hour reading or attend 1 library program per week for 3 weeks to receive the coveted tote bag, while supplies last
- continue logging hours / attending programs through august 1 for a chance to win a visa gift card
- kids can also win books

la county library
june 1 – august 1, all ages

- participate online via beanstack
- read 3 books and try 3 activities, or read 6 books, to complete the program
- kids and teens can win free books and adults can win an ereader, and there are other prizes that aren’t listed on the website

burbank public library
june 1 – july 31, all ages

- participate online via beanstack or with a gameboard–pick one up at an burbank branch or make your own
- for every 15 days of reading, you qualify for a prize
- prizes include books and library swag
- pick up prizes as you earn them or when you complete the program

glendale library, arts, and culture
june 1 – august 9, all ages

- register via beanstack, and participate via beanstack or download an activity tracker
- for every 15 days of reading or activities, you qualify for a prize
- activity = any “active learning” -e.g. taking a walk, drawing or coloring, attending a library program

santa monica public library
june 14 – august 16, all ages

- when you register you get a badge. show it to the staff you get a friends of the library coupon
- after registering i also got an email that i can pick up a book bag
- prizes for 10 hours and 20 hours of reading
